This infographic about London’s history as an Olympic Games host city is interesting, but the most fascinating part of it is the breakdown of Olympic medals by country and gender. If you look deeper behind those numbers, you’ll probably find that certain countries and genders dominate different sports. I’m certain, for instance, that the reason Romania’s women have so many more medals is that they have a history of elite gymnastics programs.
