The biggest diamond in the world? It’s over 3,106 carats. That’s 621 grams! Now, we like diamonds almost entirely because they’re shiny and sparkly when cut and polished. Sadly, as this infographic shows, much of the world’s diamond supply comes from very poor parts of the world. Maybe you’ve heard of blood diamonds, diamonds dug up by slave labor; they’re illegal to sell on the international market.

Did you know that we can now make man-made diamonds? They are different from naturally formed diamonds, which formed billions of years ago, but they’re just as pretty in the way they reflect light, and they can be made in different colors. My question is this: Would you wear an artificial diamond, or do you have to have the real deal?
